Empowering the Next Generation of AI and Robotics Innovators
United School, widely recognized as the best school in Kathmandu and Lalitpur, recently hosted the inspiring AI for Good Robotics for Good- Youth Challenge Nepal 2025, an initiative that empowers youth to use technology to solve real-world problems. This high-impact event was organized by the Robotics Association of Nepal in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a UN agency.
This inspiring Event was held on May 27–28, 2025. This event brought together students, educators, and innovators to explore how artificial intelligence can be harnessed for social good and sustainable development. A total of 18 national teams participated in the AI for Good Robotics for Good challenge 2025. Participating teams are United School, Little Angels School, KMC School, Brihaspati Vidyasadan School, Vimensengola Secondary School, Asian Academy, Panchkhal Valley Secondary English School, Ratna Rajya School, Angels Heart School, Samriddhi School, and others. After an engaging and competitive showcase, United Academy emerged as the winner of this AI for Good national event, while the runner-up teams were Team AI, Team KMC, and Panchkhal.
The Senior Level competition is set to take place on June 8 and 9, 2025, and is expected to feature even more advanced projects, creativity, and innovation. Selected outstanding participants from both the junior and senior categories of the Robotics for Youth Challenge will have the honor of representing our country at the AI for Good Summit 2025 in Geneva.
What is the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge?
The Robotics for Good Youth Challenge is a global, UN-endorsed educational robotics competition that occurs every two years. Its mission is to engage young people in designing robots that address critical global challenges, especially those aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Participants design, build, and program robots to complete missions related to themes such as disaster response, sustainability, and climate resilience. The event encourages the use of free hardware and software, promoting open access, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility. Students also use recycled materials to develop sustainable, eco-friendly robots.
One winner from each category, junior and senior, of the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge National Event will be awarded the following:
- Tickets to the Grand Finale at the AI for Good Global Summit 2025 in Geneva
- Gold Passes for all team members and mentors to attend the summit
- A Youth Zone exhibition booth to display their robotic creations
- The chance to pitch on the Youth Stage in front of global leaders and innovators
Networking with the UN, international agencies, and potential partners - Media exposure that amplifies their achievements on a global scale
United School: A Hub for Innovation
United School, renowned as one of the best schools in Nepal for its holistic education and technology-driven curriculum, is shaping the next generation of scientists, coders, and innovators. This event provided a dynamic platform where students not only built robots and emerged as winners but also developed essential life skills, such as:
- Teamwork
- Project management
- Problem-solving
- Research and development
- Creative thinking
Educators, mentors, and tech experts collaborated to guide students through every stage of the challenge, from idea generation and prototyping to final presentations.
Shaping Future Innovators Through AI and Robotics
One of the core goals of the AI for Good Youth Challenge is to inspire young people to imagine how technology can be used not just for convenience, but for compassion, helping real people in real crises. From earthquake search-and-rescue operations to wildfire management and emergency medical delivery, these student-created robots represent hope and innovation in action.
This initiative also challenges students to think about the ethical and sustainable use of technology, ensuring that the AI and robotics solutions they build today can serve humanity tomorrow.
