Cyberbullying Policy

This sets out the definition, scope, and ideology that all students have the right to study in a safe and disciplined environment digitally, free from harassment. We expect the students to treat everyone with kindness and support each other. The college has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to bullying. This policy especially focuses on cyberbullying, as in the present situation, the college is running classes online in contrast to physical classes.

Cyberbullying is “The activity of sending internet or text messages that threaten or insult someone” (Longman dictionary, 2020). United Academy considers cyberbullying as very serious misconduct. The students found that doing so will face very serious consequences. The Academy wants the students to use the internet safely. All the online activities will be closely monitored by the IT department. The college asks all students to use the internet safely.

Cyberbullying includes:

  1. Threatening, insulting, abusing, and uploading inappropriate images in social media sites, email, videoconferencing applications like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams chat, image-sharing sites like Snapchat, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
  2. It can include provoking a third party to tease someone online.
  3. Although cyberbullying is not a separate criminal offense, there are laws like the Electronic Transaction Act 2063 of Nepal that apply to bullying and harassment.
