United Swimming Gala 2083: Results and Highlights from Satdobato
United School and United Universal School dove into an inter-house swimming competition together for the United Swimming Gala 2083, held on Bhadra 26, 2083 (September 11, 2026). The event ran from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the indoor pool of Satdobato Swimming Complex. 96 swimmers took part, with 85 from United School and 11 from United Universal School. Fourteen officials managed the races, and parents filled the stands to cheer on their children.
A Morning of Competition and Cheer
Principal Manoj Bishwokarma opened the program. Founder Director N. H. Rai and Academic Director Dr. Kabiraj Bantawa attended as chief guests, alongside Principal Rakesh Shrestha and Quality Head Baudha Raj Niroula. Having leadership from across the United Academy Group at the poolside showed that sport gets the same respect as academics here. Principal Bishwokarma also handled the awards and prize distribution at the close of the event.
Categories and Events
Swimmers competed across 5 age categories: Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, and Open, with separate boys' and girls' heats in each. The 25m freestyle ran across every category. Boys also raced in breaststroke and backstroke at the Open level and butterfly at Under 14, while girls raced breaststroke at the Open level. Swimmers in the Under 14 and Under 16 categories also stepped up for a 50m freestyle.

The Standout Swimmer of the Gala
One name shows up again and again on the results sheet: Ridaya KC of House East. Ridaya took first place in 5 events: the Open Breaststroke, Open Backstroke, Under 14 Butterfly, and both the 25m and 50m Under 14 Freestyle. That kind of range across strokes and distances is rare at the school level and made Ridaya the swimmer to watch at this year's gala.

The Real Benefits of Swimming for Children
Medals weren't the only thing at the United Swimming Gala 2083. It was a reminder of the real benefits of swimming for children and the importance of swimming in a child's weekly routine.
Builds strength in heart and lungs. In time, regular swimming reduces blood pressure and resting heart rate as the exercise trains the body to use oxygen more efficiently with controlled breathing.
It builds full-body strength. Very few activities work the arms, legs, back, and core at once the way swimming does. The water also supports the body's weight, so joints take less stress than they would on land.
It reduces stress. The steady rhythm of strokes and breathing works like a moving meditation. Many students find that a swim clears their head after a long week of classes and exams.
Why United School Backs Events Like This
Events like the swimming gala sit alongside the clubs and activities that make up life at United School. Days like this are part of why United continues to be counted among the top schools in Kathmandu Valley. Results in the pool and results in the classroom both come from the same modern facilities and coaching support behind every secondary school program. The school believes a child who is strong outside the classroom carries that confidence into it. Watching 96 students from two United Academy Group schools race, cheer, and support each other at Satdobato was proof of that belief in action.
